Superstar Rajinikanth has stirred up anticipation in the film industry with the understated yet important announcement of “Jailer 2.” The first-look teaser has captivated both enthusiasts and cinema lovers. Anirudh will bring his signature energetic music to the film’s score, while the reputed Sun Pictures is making a major financial investment to this grand project, which is set to commence filming shortly.
Helmed by Sunny Sanjay, the film aims to offer a moving combination of drama and nostalgia. The cast includes actress Kajal Choudhary as the female lead, with the seasoned Srinivas Avasarala portraying a significant role.
When asked if he ever dreamed to portray a female character, Vishwak expressed, “Just like any creative mind, I’ve always been eager to explore different characters. In an thrilling development for movie lovers, actor Vishwak Sen will transform into a female persona in the upcoming film “Laila,” directed by Ram Narayan. While my previous films leaned towards serious themes, this script felt refreshing. Films such as ‘Chitram Bhalare Vichitram,’ and ‘Remo’ inspired me it would be a unique experience. It’s not just another mature movie; rather, it’s a dynamic film, and I believe it will be a defining moment in my career.” When asked which character he preferred—Sonu or Laila—he replied, “Definitely. While Laila steals the spotlight, Sonu’s chic lifestyle in the first half is charming.” On the topic of Sonu’s transformation into Laila, Vishwak elaborated, “Sonu encounters three significant issues, and adopting the persona of Laila is his way of finding a way out of those problems. I was immediately compelled to bring that joy to audiences. However, Sonu’s character also has its allure. Set to release February 14, 2025, this film marks a remarkable departure for the star, who exposed his character during a recently held promotion. It’s been nearly two decades since a leading man stepped into a female character, so when this script came my way, I knew it was a special opportunity.” Reflecting on his first thoughts to the script, he shared, “it was an absolute laugh riot the entire time! Abhimanyu Singh also portrays a uniquely crafted role. However, I am drawn to step back into the character’s persona. You’ll have to watch the film to uncover the details.” Discussing the makeover process, he noted that it took approximately two and a half hours, thanks to the expertise of makeup artist Nikki, who achieved a realistic look. Vishwak also highlighted Akanksha’s role, stating, “Her role is quite unexpected, and she has given an outstanding performance. I’m confident we will work together again.” When asked why he chose not to promote the film in Laila’s attire, he responded, “I believe that Laila’s true essence should be revealed on the big screen. Additionally, there’s a special surprise actor that audiences are sure to enjoy, particularly the surprise appearance of Gullu Dada.” Reflecting on his collaboration with producer Sahu Garapati, he said, “Garapati a excellent vision of filmmaking and was the first to believe I could excel in this role. There’s also a tease for a sequel that could lead to a follow-up; if the response is overwhelmingly positive, we might consider adding it in the following weeks.” As for his future projects, Vishwak shared, “I am set to start filming ‘Funky’ with Anudeep right after this, and we plan to introduce the cast at the end of the month.
